well, in the purest sense, it isn’t. Both methods capture an image, and try to be as lifelike as possible. But, while I have seen some INCREDIBLE artwork, with master brushstrokes, creating EXTREMELY life like portraits…….there is still a level that painting freehand, will never match in photography. The beauty of painting, ….is that you can capture images from your own imagination.

Unicorns, Angels, Ghosts, and other things, perhaps photography, cannot produce.

Both are valid art forms, and some photographers are reknown for their style and signature work.

    Paintings are well paintings. Done by hand.

    Artistic photography is more based on lighting. Lighting is important in all photography. Artistic photos there is the balance of light and shadows, the photo represents something that you simply look at and you see peace, relaxation or anger, sadness.
