I need to write an essay on digital photography and how it has changed photographic medium. Does anyone know any good books or websites I could look for reference?

Can anyone suggest a UK website for short holiday courses (both cookery and digital photography) in UK?

I’ve seen it somewhere that the company in a country side do some workshop for digital photography and cookery for adults, but can’t seem to find it anymore online.
I have no specific location in mind. As long as within UK, preferably, Wales, or somewhere country side. I’m living in London. Would be nice to get away from the city for half term in last week of October and doing something useful for both me and my partner.

What part of the UK are you in?
Devon? Cornwall?
Or elsewhere?

I want to get a digital camera, however I am on bit of a budget. Something under $200 would be good. Maybe a little more, or less. But I want a good quality, easy to use, easy to learn, digital photography camera.

I will be taking digital photography in the fall semester. What will I learn? Will the school teach me how to use photshop??

How on earth can we possibly answer that when we know NOTHING about the school or even how long the class/course is?

I live in the Elgin, IL area and really want to break into photography and start my own business. Im looking for a program to learn digital photography at a school no online but the only thing I can find is a Bachelors which is 3-4 years or noncredit classes which are pointless… Anyone know of anywhere or have any ideas other than Harrington College of Design???

The College of Dupage in Glen Ellyn has an excellent photography department. One of the instructors lives in Elgin, so the drive can’t be too bad.

What is the best digital photography book?

I just got my new DSLR camera now I am looking for the best digital photography book for a newbie like me.

This may sound silly but to me the first and foremost book on photography is my camera manual.
I would strongly recommend you to read it from cover to cover and then, read it again. Your camera is a very high tech piece of electronic equipment and only the manual will give you complete and detailed informations about all of its features.
Practice, read, analyze your results and re-start.
I don’t know for others, but to me the most difficult part at the beginning was to master the tool.
How can you shoot a white polar bear playing in the snow if you can’t set exposure compensation on YOUR specific camera?
Like in any art, creativity will only come after mastering the tool. If you’ve seen the Karate Kid (the 1st movie) I’m sure you know what I’m talking about

Otherwise other solutions are free blog sites such as Blogger.com which is pretty easy to maintain. Or Flickr, which is a great way to upload images for other photographers to view and comment, plus its a brilliant resource to view other photographs and draw inspiration from them.

1) How do you prepare for your work? i meditate prior to any photo shoot. then I scoop out the area. I go look a day prior or weeks prior and try to get a feel for the one day without the camera one day with so I can be intune with nature.

2) How did you become a professional in this field? buy charging money for what i love to do. I feel bad sometimes but as a landscape artist/photographer/painter I feel more connected to my work than just someone viewing my work. so my prices are more on the high end.

3) What are the easiest things about your job? doing what I love being myself.

4) What’s the hardest thing about your job? – Dealing with people asking questions "What are you doing" are you photographing me. and trying to be nice to them. a reason I do landscape nature photography is to not deal with people as most annoy me!

5) How can I become a professional in this career? – pick up a camera start shooting and show off your work be willing to sell at flea markets yardsales and be willing to spend the money and time to learn what you need to learn to go further. don’t plan on making a crap load of money. unless you want to do events like weddings

6) How has digital photography changed this field? it made it easier for someone who always wanted to take a lot of photo’s take a lot of photo’s some people are really good so it increases competition.

7) What are colleges that I can attend if I am interested in studied your field? – I went to school for broadcasting. if you want to work in this field chances are you don’t need an education however I will always suggest business classes most photographers end up owning their own business most fail because they know everything about a camera but nothing about how to run a business.
