What do you know about Clemson University?

I’m 16 years old and I need to start looking at colleges soon. I’ve pretty much just been looking up random colleges on the Internet. I’m not completely sure what I want to do, but I don’t pike anything dealing with math, science, or technology. I’m into photography, interior design, and fashion design. The only problem is I want to go to a medium sized university, not an artsy school. Is Clemson a good school? What do you know about it?

Clemson is an excellent school which is becoming pretty selective, so if you don’t live in SC you’ll need great grades to have a shot at it. It’s mainly known for it’s science and engineering programs; I don’t think it offers fashion design (although it does have a top textiles research program).

Is it possible for a Indian to get a nicely paid photography job in US or Canada?

I am from India. I want to work abroad. I want a photography job enough paid to survive there, Is it possible? Is it very tough to get the work permit and visa with a photography job? how to approach? Do they accept International people in the job applications.
I really want to move abroad and work on photography to develop my skills. I tried applying to many many people. but none worked out. Please help me on this. If any jobs are there.. please let me know. you can take a look at my photography portfolio here. I am in to Model Portfolios, Children Portrait. I can assure you that it will be your talent, creativity, sound business practices and determination that will determine your sucess as a photographer in either the United States or in Canada. As a photographer and person of color myself, I know photographers of every ethnicity and from countries all over the world.

I don’t mean to play into ethnic stereotypes here, but while shooting a group shot of information technology professionals for this biotech, I met a project manager orginally from India who was both an IT professional and a fine photographer on the side. He specialized in photographing traditional Indian weddings held in the U.S.

Your portfolio has potential. It may be the early morning hours I’m writing this–but more than a few of the images seem to be a tad less sharp than they should be–especially the first image of the girl with the eyes closed; the one you see when you click on your link.

Note: unless a photo is a major one-of-a-kind unique photo; one of the first standards of putting it in a portfolio is "it has to be as close to technically perfect–if not absolutely technically perfect" which includes tack-sharp focus.

Keep working at learning and improving the craft, acquire/learn/master sound business practices as well (especially customer service, written communicationa and verbal communications skills) and stay focused (no pun intended) and determined.

Does photography help in interior designing course?

I should think so!!!
How often would it happen that every person involved in a project/assignment etc can be in that same actual location at the same time?
Surely being able to take good interior photographs would be a huge help in so many ways!!!

i don’t design anything but it sounds pretty cool, and you go to college to learn don’t you.

& interior designing sounds pretty cool also, i love taking pictures, so i like photography alot too.

Also i can’t choose. I do not want to go to college more than 4 years, and i want a good high paying job.

which is right for me? any suggestions or comments, no mean comments please thanks.

All of those would put you in college for 3-4 years depending on where you go. Really you have to figure out which one interest you the most. Do a little project for all of these and pick which one you enjoyed the most.

Try designing an outfit and then try sewing something. You don’t have to do anything elaborate, just like a simple dress. If you like it enough to make a career, go for it. I personally cannot be sure, but i think being a fashion designer isn’t always an easy thing. It would take a lot of dedication and time.

Interior design, I’ve heard, does make good money. Maybe you could try designing a room for a friend or family member. Measure the room, pick paint, and choose some furniture. Draw it out.
For fashion photography, get a friend to dress up for you and make it like a real photo shoot. Pick a theme, make a set or find a good place to take pictures, and direct your model.

I think if you already like photography, that one would be your best bet. But if you’re really interested in the other 2, try them out.

i am an american junior and i was thinking of going to school in england. the majors i seem to like are all in the liberal arts genera.(anthropology,photography,interior design…..and lots more) and i have a passion for international affairs/foreign language. i am home schooled with a 3.5 gpa. what are some colleges in england you think i might like?
