Hi all
PowerShot SX20 camera is it good for landscape and nature photography ?

Thanks
EC

The fine 20 x optical zoom covers 28 mm to 560 mm

While if by nature, you mean wildlife, it is a good camera for shooting from far away, far enough to be outside the scare radius of most wild animals that you are down wind from.

However for landscapes, the lens is just so, so. 28 mm is not the choice of most landscape photographers, some thing closer to 20 mm or maybe 24 mm are tops on the list. Since no P&S cameras have super wide angle lenses, you may have to break down and buy an entry level dSLR and a wide angle zoom lens like the Canon 10-22 mm or Nikon 10-24 mm depending upon which camera system you choose

Did you get the kit lens with your d5000 camera? If you did then that lens is really good for landscapes and you wont need to spend any money on lenses. If you haven’t got the kit lens than a wide-angle lens is always a good choice (sigma 10-20mm is a good one). Tripod is as important for landscapes as lenses are. If you haven’t got a tripod already you really should get one, it will offer you so much more than just handheld shooting would.
