Can anyone recommend good photography locations in Los Angeles?

Other than the obvious tourist spots like the Scary Dairy, Griffith Park, Hollywood Cemetery, etc. I am having a hard time finding good locations for photos shoots in the LA/South Bay area…

Whether it’s an old factory, messed-up bridge, etc. Can anyone recommend cool locations [where photography is permitted] in Los Angeles???

Really depends on what you’re looking for. Old factories? Try the arts district around Santa fe and 5th streets downtown. Garden/nature? Try the south coast botanical gardens. Beach scenes? C’mon this is LA. Palos Verdes peninsula, Santa Monica Pier, Bolsa Chica wetlands, Central Park in Huntington Beach.

I entered a competition for photography and the prize is the opportunity to go to either egypt or canada. which is better for photography? the mountain/wilderness of canada or the dry desert/history of egypt?

id say canada for the stunning photography…

but im also a history freak LOVE IT and so would also say egypt becasue of this…its a tircky one!

Best Headshot/photography location in Nyc? For shots to be sent to agencies and auditions?

I was leaning towards Theo&Juliet for headshots
The price $985 for a session but their shots seem to be very good.
I plan on sending the shots that I get done to agencies since I’m taking acting courses first then getting head shots done.

Is it worth it or are there other better locations?

I recommend www.robertkim.com, superior photos in my opinion and at a much better price.

I’m new to the area of San Diego and have decided to take up my love for photography more serious. I have a friend who has seen my pictures and would like me to take shots of her while being pregnant. I would LOVE to get some good shots but have NO idea where to go. I’d like for anyone to help me out on some suggestions on where I can go and some places where we may have more privacy. But anything will help.

The rocks at Windansea beach in La Jolla make an interesting backdrop. You’ll want to go at low tide, as more rocks appear out of the water, creating some semi-private spaces. At high tide they are under water.

If you love gardens, the Self Realization Fellowship Temple in Encinitas has great views and beautiful gardens that are free (not open on Mondays).

San Diego Botanic Garden in Encinitas is a beautiful botanic garden, with bamboo forest, rain forest, desert and more.

If you walk along the beach at low tide (say less than 3 feet) you can see some nice cliffs. Blacks Beach requires you to go down a fairly steep trail, or walk 5 miles round trip at low tide, which may not appeal to a pregnant woman. But you can just take a short walk south from Torrey Pines, south from Moonlight, or south from Cardiff and you will be in a fairly quiet stretch of beach along some interesting cliffs.

Of course all of these places are less crowded on a weekday.

My friend is 8 months pregnant and I’d like to shoot her on a beach. I’m located in the San Diego and I’m new to the area so I don’t know ANY good locations. Can anyone please help me to find good locations to shoot? I’m looking for the beach locations, fields of flowers or a nice scenery or just good places to shoot kids. Thanks!

Check here for some beach photos. I suggest La Jolla Cove for nice sandstone cliffs and blue water scenes. But if you want grassy area along side the beach, then try La Jolla Shores. Windandsea has some of the best waves (not to mention the Surf Shack), not very busy at this beach too, so maybe that’s a good thing.
