What are some great programs/software for photography?

I just got my Girl friend a Lap top for her Birthday. She is trying to start up a home photography business. What can I buy to put on her computer that makes her photos look pro? the only thing I can think of is photo shop. is there anything better? it doesn’t mater how much it costs. I just no this is gonna make her so happy!

Adobe Photoshop Elements is a good one and more affordable than Photoshop. Elements only cost about $80 retail.

Does anyone know free photography software to download? That you have used a trusted? I want a software that if you have a picture of a beach, you can make everything grey except the water. Something like that. That was an example by the way. So if anyone knows any site that that, if would be greatly appreciated.

I’d suggest downloading GIMP. It’s a program that is similar to Photoshop, but it can be download for free. Here’s the download link: http://www.gimp.org/downloads/

What software/website is best for starting a photography website?

I just started a photography business. I see so many photographer’s websites that are totally awesome. How do I do that?! I want something cool, not simple. I’ve heard of dreamweaver, but is there other software out there that’s easier to use with the same results?

Serif Webplus. Its very simple to use with some great tools for flash galleries and such. You can put together a 5 page site with a photo gallery in like an hour if you have the wordy stuff already composed. (FAQs, rules, contacts.)

I’m about to jump into "green screen" DSLR photography & need advice on affordable editing software. Anyone?

I’ve been doing photography for years, but am new to Chromakey work and am considering the purchase of a green screen. I have background images, but I’m looking for a software package that will drop the green and add my new backgrounds. Someone told me Adobe Elements worked well, and I’ve noticed other software programs online that I’ve never heard of. I’m looking for something reasonably priced and easy to use. Thanks!

Are you looking for a specific editor? Or any photo editor that will run on your computer?

GIMP is free and fairly robust.

However, it seems you are pretty serious. You might save up the $200 and get CS2. It is a very nice photo editor.

I use Elements and it is only $79 or so.

Help me turn a regular digital photo of me into a proffessional looking graduation pic?

Long story short, I missed the day of graduation pics so I either give in s.t close or have nothing at all.

Basically what I need 2 do is
-make it look like I’m wearing a black turtle neck
-put a greyish bluish backround

I once knew html code but those times are long gone. Preferably this new program would have an interface like MS Publisher but I find the Publisher "Create A Web Page" wizard rather confusing. I tried Trellian WebPage and it was on the right path but just didn’t seem right. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

You can try MacroMaker and record the keystrokes, then play it as much as you want with intervals.

Ok, I just took up the hobby of photography and I was wondering what are some free or trial software that I can use to edit, enhance, change, distort, or in some other way visually modify the photos?

They are all in JPEG format, and if it is possible a small tutorial would be helpful.

I think you should try out GIMP. It’s pretty easy to use once you know where everything is.

What is the best post production software to invest in for a beginner in photography?

Looking for a software that is very similar to Adobe’s Photoshop, Aperture, and Lightroom for post production/editing photographs. Beginning a business as a wedding photographer, but I don’t have much $$ to purchase professional softwares such as the above mentioned.
