What would be your ideal wedding photography package?

How many hours of coverage?
Just Personal wedding album or parents album included?
How many 4×6’s
How many 5×7’s
How many 8×10’s
16×20’s
and any other options?
How soon would you expect your final product?

A lot of brides now are looking for photographers that will be with them all day and give them a CD of all final pictures – editing – with full re-printing rights. All of the prints, etc are a bonus, but don’t really mean much anymore. With sites like my publisher offering do-it-yourself albums for $60 – prints just aren’t worth as much as they used to be.

How do I start in the wedding photography field?

I shoot mostly nature and landscapes and I have no portraits in my portfolio, but I would like to try shooting a wedding. How do I get into this? Maybe I could offer to be a second shooter for a lower end but established wedding photographer in the area?
Also, I am shy and uncomfortable with people having fun at parties.

Hi. As a wedding photographer myself I started out talking portraits of friends. I then did a wedding for $200.00. You have to get practice though. Try different backgrounds and locations. Just focus on people for a few weeks. I would also recommend browsing other photographers websites like this one: http://pinpointphoto.net. Practice makes perfect!!! Good Luck!!

How much does a wedding photography assistant make?

Why is wedding photography so stressful?

Anyone else here get stressed doing wedding photography?

My sister got out of the wedding business altogether. The familes are already at their wit’s end on that day. They want you to be in three places at one time. They do not want to stage any shots, but they do not want to keep everyone waiting while they take photos after the wedding in the chapel. They want you to know who is seated at every table so Aunt Mildred won’t turn up is three table shots and Uncle Paulie won’t be in any. They want you to "cut" Uncle Miltie from the shot where he has his arm around the mother of the bride, because – well – you know… Can you get rid of the pimples on little Sister’s face? Do you HAVE to use that FLASH? Why did you get the back of the groom’s head when he was smashing cake in the bride’s face? Why am I paying YOU to do this job and a "helper" went to the groom’s house? I should have just had my Cousin Bob do these pictures. He got a pretty nice and expensive digital camera and his pictures always come out good. Can we just buy the proofs and get more prints made at WalMart? Why did you put "PROOF" right across the pictures. I PAID for them, didn’t I? ARGHHHHHHHH!!!

not enjoy portrait photography as much? I don’t really enjoy shooting portraits as much as weddings, landscape and animals. Aren’t shooting weddings similar to shooting portraits in some respects? Or do you consider weddings more candid (capture the moment) photography? But for some reason they are more enjoyable to me.

There are a few approaches to weddings..portrait and photo-journalistic are most common. Because I am a portrait photographer full time, when I approach a wedding it is in portrait style. I have learned to blend some photo journalism into the mix.

If you have found an approach you enjoy and the public wants, go for it!!!

Wedding photography business?

I would love to start my own business doing wedding photography and offering portrait photography as well. I would love to hear how you started out if you have your own business, i really dont know where to start. I am at the stage where i am looking to buy a professional digital slr camera after coming to the end of my course using a 35mm film camera and i dont have a portfolio at the moment, any advice would be appreciated.

When is the best time of day for outside wedding photography?

if we’re taking outside wedding photos, when is the best time of day? Sunlight, evening? any ideas?

I would say that the same applies here as with other types of photography. The morning and evening give the best light. Around noon, when the sun is high in the sky, the shadows become harsh and a flash becomes necessary if the people are in direct sunlight because of the harsh shadows cast across the faces.

What to charge for wedding photography?

My sister was asked to take pictures for my childhood friend’s wedding. She wants to charge for the first time. We know them though and its her first time asking for money. What would be a good rate?

Whats the product? A CD or prints. How much post work? How good is she? If shes serious and good then charge what everyone else does, if shes not as good charge less. If she wants to discount then thats up to yous how much to discount.

Wedding Photography – Pay $500 for a professional factory album or pay $800 for a unique handmade album?

I do wedding photography on the side and want to know what the general public feels about this topic.
Keep in mind professional factory albums range from $500 up to $1,500 and handmade albums range from about $700 and could possible be sold for $2,000 depending how intricate.

It depends on what the handmade ones looked like but if they were about the same price I would probably go with handmade.
