I want to buy a camera so that i can finally start working on creative photography. The problem is, i don’t know what camera to get! i want to get one that has many tweakable things, such as aperture, and white balance and all that jazz…but at the same time, i want it to be digital! PLEASE HELP!!!

The Canon Rebel XT /Rebel XTi (350D/400D in europe) is a good start and no too expensive. If you want to work creatively you will probably start with a Digital SLR, however, you also need to consider the cost of a decent lens or two.

However, it also depends on what you mean by "creative", you might want to try a digital rangefinder. www.photo.net is a really good resource. Try and work out what you want and need from a camera and then go on to see which best fits your needs rather than asking other people online. Its quite a personal thing and there isn’t one solution that fits all. You might also want to go into a decent camera shop and talk to them about what you want.

Good Luck

A Nikon D50 is a good start. But it’s not a matter of camera as it is photographer. "Real" photographers still use film. Either 35mm or 120….I use a 90’s Nikon HP-F3 myself.

You can be creative also with a pocket camera (though it is difficult), so when you buy a camera buy also a nice photography book (search Amazon for that).

The D50 would be a great start, it gives you most the features you need, but you will need to spend some more $$$ for lenses.

I don’t know what you mean by "tweakable" but remember that many enhancements are done on the computer (like Saturation, B/W, Sharpening etc), So you’ll need to learn that too.

Good luck, remember that the camera is only the beginning.
