I was in Barnes and Noble and saw there’s quite a few photography magazines out there…Just curious if you read any or recommend any and if so, why?
By the way, I knew a guy who did a lot of editorials for Photographer’s Black Book in the mid 90’s– Is that periodical still being published today? Just curious…
If you are looking to be a professional, there are two that I recommend. They are "Rangefinder" and "Professional Photographer." I don’t think you’ll be able to find them at book stores, but you can find them online and get a subscription. "Rangefinder" has great articles which focus on the technical side of being a professional photographer and getting the best images. "Professional Photographer" has articles geared toward the business side of being a pro photographer. It is the official magazine of the Professional Photographers of America.
If you are not looking to be a professional, I recommend Popular Photography and Shutterbug. Other magazines that you can find at book stores focus on specific aspects, such as "Black and White Photographer," "Outdoor Photographer" and "Photoshop Techniques" and the like.
