Ok, for starters, I’m an amateur and in no way consider myself professional at this point just because I have a DSLR. I’m still learning a lot about my camera (Canon 50D). But I do have a lot of experience working in Photoshop CS4.

I want to take some "professional-ish" shots of my son and edit them myself. But how do I create this look: http://ljhollowayphotography.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/IMG_6096BWSFW.jpg

At least with the eyes. If you have any suggestions or tutorials I’d greatly appreciate the help.

You will need to sharpen the eyes in Photoshop, and If you want, use the dodge and burn tools

That sample is not .. good. He looks freakish. It’s way overdone.

Lighting will give you what’s called ‘catch light’. You have to get teh eyes in perfect focus, too.

This was not edited. http://www.flickr.com/photos/l.....601730483/ except removing some pimples.
