I’m new to the area of San Diego and have decided to take up my love for photography more serious. I have a friend who has seen my pictures and would like me to take shots of her while being pregnant. I would LOVE to get some good shots but have NO idea where to go. I’d like for anyone to help me out on some suggestions on where I can go and some places where we may have more privacy. But anything will help.
Thanks
The rocks at Windansea beach in La Jolla make an interesting backdrop. You’ll want to go at low tide, as more rocks appear out of the water, creating some semi-private spaces. At high tide they are under water.
If you love gardens, the Self Realization Fellowship Temple in Encinitas has great views and beautiful gardens that are free (not open on Mondays).
San Diego Botanic Garden in Encinitas is a beautiful botanic garden, with bamboo forest, rain forest, desert and more.
If you walk along the beach at low tide (say less than 3 feet) you can see some nice cliffs. Blacks Beach requires you to go down a fairly steep trail, or walk 5 miles round trip at low tide, which may not appeal to a pregnant woman. But you can just take a short walk south from Torrey Pines, south from Moonlight, or south from Cardiff and you will be in a fairly quiet stretch of beach along some interesting cliffs.
Of course all of these places are less crowded on a weekday.

You need to park your car in Old Town and after you have spent a day there, come back and starting at the Old Town Trolley station, ride it until you see other areas that interest you. There is always the Point Loma Lighthouse, Balboa Park.
Basically it seems that you have not spent much time walking around your fine city.
If you want privacy, take a drive northeast to the old mining areas around Julian (about 60 miles from San Diego)

You have the beach, the mountains or the city.
If you want to do nudes or implied (ala Demi Moore), then Black’s Beach is the best spot, not going to get an indecent exposure ticket there.
La Jolla has some incredible views, cliffs, rocks and wonderful beaches.
Balboa Park and the surrounding areas are incredible, especially the rose garden. Parts of the park are great, buildings, city skyline or trees for background
If you drive out past the stadium on Mission Gorge road, plenty of trails and meadows. Some are real short hikes, better for your friend.
You can go over the bridge to Coronada and Centennial Park, and shoot with the San Diego skyline as a backdrop.
For more privacy, some of the beaches in North County are pretty desolate if you take a short walk. Between Swamis and Moonlight is pretty open, same with Carlsbad where the bridge is out. No place is going to be deserted, but minimal crowds.
