    theres hundreds. from photoshop (CS4) to gimp, which is free, but as user friendly as a rattlesnake in a lucky dip…

    good basic freebies include; fastone image viewer; ifranview.

    good basic pay fors, are, paintshop pro and photoshop elements..

    For editing , Adobe Elements 8 is excellent it will also organise youre pics (about £70). For online storage and for uploading your pics to share with family etc , ‘Flickr ‘ is brill and it’s free !

    I like da costa’s answer. I especially liked picassa for several reasons: it’s free and it organizes your photos for you, which you’ll find is a bigger concern than editing when you start to house lots of photos on your PC/Mac. Just play around with different free software that’s out there; no need to buy anything just yet. Later you might try Lightroom, which is currently my favorite program…

    Why not try Lightroom? Its good for downloading photo’s and editing. Plus if you go to Adobe’s website you can download Lightroom 3 for free as a beta version until april 2010.
