Well, what I am … Well, what I am saying is, say he photographs someone who is not very well known but one day will be a star. Depending on how he decides to represent them, that person will then be known to be that character type. Just the same way as we confuse the actor with the character in movies. we actually think they are the character. In this way, the photographer has the power to create an image and a character despite whether it is true or not. This then carries over to the public. It is all made up.
Well actually they … Well actually they cannot be made up, they are real indeed. I think he meant to say that things he likes to photograph are shown on his photos (moods, portraits etc.) and they represent him, his mind, state, mood, and that is his way of expressing the art of a moment – it’s him not those people.

wow, so all of these characters we see are really people he made up in his mind and produced, not real people? This is a wonderful thing for a photographer to admit. He is actually creating these people for us.

I find it funny … I find it funny that all of you that claim to know about copyrights really don’t have a clue. Avedon is getting full credit for these photos and they are compiled in a way that is protected through “Fair Use”. It does not matter that the video was posted by someone other than the actual author of the video, as the original author was not out to seek profit from it in the first place. Anyone can repost this video without the consent of the “author”. Quit whining. It doesn’t suit you.

his pictures were … his pictures were amazing i don’t know how he did it, i actually saw an exhibit on his pictures and for them to have been taken in the 50s60s and 70s the clarity is beyond better then of my pictures in my digital camera, and another thing is how his pictures never ceased to be amazing since making beautiful shots day by day is hardly and easy job
